Day 8 10.12.22 - A late night and a small world
December 10, 2022
11:39 pm. Sun high on the horizon kind of at 2pm. Just finished a late night chat with the 4 guides. Felt a bit strange being the only client up but it was also nice. A glass of vino and we talked about their lives; the love for the outdoors, the mountains and exploration, but also the usual concerns about how to maintain this life.
It was a late night when I retired and I am writing these notes late. But it was a day of rest at Low Camp. You wonder if dictated by real weather conditions or a preconceived plan.
Up at 10am; breakfast at 11am. Did not leave the common tent till 2pm. Back in the tent. A video, a nap. Training exercise with the ascender at 5pm. My book from 6 to 9pm.. and time to eat again. Tonight it was spaghetti.
Rob and Kenton joined everyone from their walk up from base camp. Nice evening. Most retired around 10:30pm, except the hardy ones …. and me.
Breaking news: Eli, Saray's guide, is indeed the brother of Lydia, our newly recruited Finance support in Florida. She did mention her mountaineer brother back in September and I do remember we googled him. But completely forgot about him. It’s funny that she texted him today and asked about me. And here we are- small world.
